How To Make Your Own Easy Felt Needle Book
Â

29/11/15
Felt needle books are a fantastic easy gift to sew, so I thought it would make a perfect a gift for a good friend of mine who has just taken up sewing.
Â
What You Will Need:
Felt:
2Â x 20 x 9.5cm for the cover (1 is fine if your not sewing anything on your cover or don't mind the back of your sewing showing though)
Half the amount of pages you want in felt ( I used 2) in 18 x 7.5cm
Optional - Any embellishments such as buttons or ribbon, or felt scraps to decorate your cover with.
How To Make It:
First, decorate your front cover! Here's your chance to be creative. You could sew on buttons, ric rac, ribbon or even just glue on felt shapes. I used THIS embroidery pattern for mine.

Next, hide the back of your masterpiece by popping a second piece of felt on the back and sewing them together. I did that by using an overcast foot to sew a zigzag stitch over the edge of the fabric, but as near to the edge as you can would also work fine.

Take your 2 pieces of 18cm x 7.5cm felt and place them centrally inside your cover piece. Pin in place then turn it so that they are on the bottom. Sew centrally up the middle.

How easy was that?! It's finished already!

Happy Sewing!
Oh this looks just so cute! You are very clever. I’m not sure I could find the patience or skill required though! I must say that the thought of settling down to something like this is a very relaxing one though…
Great post and pictures, thank you.

This looks such a lovely keepsake, I am not at all crafty but I often wish I was able to create pretty things like this so this is a great little tutorial xx
I probably own just a couple of needles. That’s quite likely the reason why the “simple” felt book looks quite challenging to me! lol I wish I could do these sort of things! x
That quote had me smiling. If I had a penny for the things I have picked up in the hope of creating sparkly masterpieces out of them, I would be very, very rich 🙂 Great idea to the more traditional pin cushion, loving it.
I love the cover design on this. Really sweet. And a better idea than storing needles in the original card holders they come in – I can never get them out from there.
Great quick project Linda! I’ll have to make one, then the kids won’t be able to push all my needles down into the pin cushion never to be seen again!
Haha little monkies!
Oh this is such a lovely idea and it looks brilliant. I just wish i had your sewing skills! x
This looks brilliant, you are so talented! My mum loves to make things like this for the grandchildren and they always look so much better than shop bought x
